Grammar Spod: To borrow or lend..that is the question!

As English teachers we very often hear students of all nationalities making the same mistakes in class. This next subject of our Grammar Spod is one of the most common mistakes. Borrow and lend are two words that seem to confuse people quite often, but there is a simple rule to help you remember the difference.

If you borrow something, you take it from someone for a short time and later you return it. You borrow books from a library and you borrow from a bank.

When you lend something to somebody, you give it to them for a time but you expect it back. You lend a pen to a friend or a bank lends you money (a loan).
