July 15th sees the long-awaited release of the latest adventure of the teenage wizard Harry Potter and his continuing quest to save himself and his friends from the evil plotting of “He Who Must Not Be Named”.
Though the shock ending, widely publicised when “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” was first published, is now common knowledge, there is still the sad fact that this film will see the death of one of our hero’s mentors and friends.
Directed by David Yates, this film promises the expected darkness and menace that was generated by the book as Lord Voldemort’s power grows and his army of Death-Eaters wreak havoc on the ‘muggle’ (non-magic) world, along with the fun and humour of the rampaging hormones of our teenage magicians as friendships grow into relationships.
There is no doubt that the film will contain the usual special effects, sets and costumes and attract young and old cinema-goers.
So, if you want to watch the continuing anarchic exploits of the Weasley twins, the slide into darkness of Draco Malfoy and his plotting parents. The blossoming relationship of Harry and Ginny and the down-right oddness of Luna Lovegood. I suggest you keep an eye on the students’ notice board and look for the cinema listing of the Apollo Cinema on Paignton seafront. AT
