Academic Long-Stay Programmes

If your goal is to make significant progress towards English language fluency then LAL's Academic Long-stay Programme is the ideal option. A semester or a year-long study abroad programme is a tried and tested formula for thousands of students worldwide!

Flexible start dates

By offering the option of starting any Monday of the year you can plan your studies according to your own needs. Start when it suits you!

As long as you want

You can follow the programme for a semester (12 weeks), for the full academic year (32 weeks) or even a calendar year, whatever best fits your work or study schedules. Study for as long as you can!

Focus and Premium choices

Choose between our Premium options (a maximum of 6 students per class) and our Focus classes (with a maximum of 10 students per class).

Your individual needs are our priority

We give you regular tests so we know how effectively you are progressing and where improvements and extra attention are required.

A stepping stone to university

We have a comprehensive university placement service to assist with the choice of and application process to the university of your choice.

Free upgrades

We will offer you free upgrades to business and examination classes (subject to level and availability) enabling you to collect internationally recognised certificates such as Cambridge FCE, CAE and CPE.

Standard General: The Academic Long-stay Standard General English Extra course is designed for students who want to study for a longer period of time (12 - 48 weeks). Students study 20 lessons of English at LAL Cape Town.
Premium General: The Academic Long-stay Premium General English Extra course is designed for students who want to study in smaller classes (max. 6 students) for a longer period of time (12 - 48 weeks). Students study 20 lessons of English at LAL Cape Town.
Standard Intensive: The Academic Long-stay Standard Intensive English course is designed for students who want to study for a longer period of time (8 - 48 weeks). Students study 30 lessons of English at LAL Cape Town in classes of up to 12 students.
Premium Intensive: The Academic Long-stay Premium Intensive English course is designed for students who want smaller classes and to study for a longer period of time (12 - 48 weeks). Students study 30 lessons of English at LAL Cape Town in classes of up to 6 students.
Standard Intensive: The Academic Long-stay Standard Intensive English course is designed for students who want to study for a longer period of time (8 - 48 weeks). Students study 30 lessons of English at LAL Cape Town in classes of up to 12 students.
