Academic Long-stay Premium Intensive English

2011 only. For 2012 see Academic Long-stay Standard General + Premium Intensive English.

The Academic Long-stay Premium General English course offers smaller classes of up to six students to allow more individual attention during your lessons while retaining the benefits of group study.

This is an intensive course for students who wish to have the opportunity to enhance the skills of listening and speaking. The additional 10 lessons per week provides the ideal conditions to further develop a wide range of vocabulary and improve your key communication skills. Grammatical structures and vocabulary dealt with in morning lessons can be put into practice in these lessons, allowing a greater degree of reinforcement.

This course is for students who are seeking to communicate effectively in everyday situations and gain a sound understanding of the principles of the English language. The morning lessons are designed around a course book and provides the opportunity for students to improve the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as enhancing and increasing their active / working vocabulary and grammar knowledge. By the end of their stay the students can expect to have improved not only their communicative competence, through their study of ‘survival’ English and ‘everyday’ English but will have also achieved a new level of learner autonomy and confidence.

All students on these programmes receive:

  • University Placement Assistance
  • weekly tutorials and progress tests (on request).
  • upgrades to exam preparation courses (subject to level and availability)
  • upgrades to business courses (2010 only, subject to level and availablility)

Students staying a minimum of 20 weeks receive an additional 4 lessons per week of further language study. These lessons are accumulated and given in blocks of 10. If students reach Intermediate level, they can change to an exam preparation course depending on availability of these courses.
