Academic Long-stay Standard General English Extra

This course was marketed as "Standard General Plus" courses in 2010.

This course adds an extra 2 lessons of conversation class to the General English Course. General English Plus/Extra is the minimum requirement to qualify for a student visa. It is for students who are seeking to communicate effectively in everyday situations and gain a sound understanding of the principles of the English language.

The course structure is designed around a course book and provides the opportunity for students to improve the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as enhancing and increasing their active / working vocabulary and grammar knowledge.

By the end of their stay the students can expect to have improved not only their communicative competence, through their study of ‘survival’ English and ‘everyday’ English but will have also achieved a new level of learner autonomy and confidence.

All students on Extended and Long Stay programmes receive:

  • Free inbound transfer
  • University Placement Assistance
  • dedicated student support,
  • weekly tutorials and progress tests (on request)
  • upgrade to premium classes on request where available.
  • upgrade to exam classes on request where available
