Further information about new UK visa procedures

We recently advised you that the regulations for students applying for a visa to study in the UK have changed; all students from outside the European Economic Area must now apply for either an Adult or Child Student visa.

In order that we may supply students with letters supporting their visa applications, we must have the following information for each student:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Nationality
  • Passport number
  • Proof of English level
    • if you cannot supply us with proof of your level, you must complete a test which we will supply.
  • The student’s address in his home country.

In addition to this ‘visa letter’ students will also need to have proof of sufficient money to support them during their stay in England. This means that thay must be able to show proof that they have at least £600 for every month they will spend in England (including any accommodation fees), plus their full course fees for their whole course, up to one year’s worth of fees. This money must have been in their bank accounts for at least 28 days before they make their visa applications.

In order to apply for a UK visa, students will need to go to a visa application centre in their home countries, where they will need to provide their passports and application fees. Their fingers will be scanned and their faces will be photographed.

You can see a video about UK visa procedures here on our site or on YouTube.
