Students in Class

There are over 15 classrooms accommodating the students’ academic needs, with a maximum of 15 students per class, though we aim for 13. Many of the classrooms have audio-visual equipment (TV, Video, DVD, OHP). Classrooms are in the main building and two other small blocks, only a very short walk within the grounds.

Students are tested at the beginning of the course and placed in classes according to their level and age.

Students are given a test at the end of their course and receive a certificate of attendance along with a comprehensive report.

All course materials are provided, including an LAL coursebook. The syllabus is created by the LAL England Academic Department and concentrates on communicative and topic-based lessons.

We seek to ensure that classes are made up of as many different nationalities as possible and that the age range is similar, though students’ level is the most important criteria.

There are 20 lessons of 45 minutes every week. Lessons are in the morning except the second Thursday when there are also two lessons in the afternoon. There are no lessons on Sundays.

All teachers are qualified, native speakers or native-speaker standard and hold a current certificate in teaching EFL, either Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL (or equivalent according to the British Council). They are also checked for criminal records with the CRB or an equivalent authority.

Students can also opt for the Trinity GESE examinations (by prior arrangement, subject to minimum numbers). Trinity GESE preparation takes place during the afternoon and no excursions will be missed by students who take this option.
