The Academic Programme at LAL Winchester

There are more than enough classrooms accommodating the students’ academic needs, with a maximum of 15 students per class, though we aim for 13. Access to audio-visual equipment (TV, Video, DVD, OHP) is possible. The classrooms are located in the centre of the campus.

Students are tested at the beginning of the course and placed in classes according to their level and age. We seek to ensure that classes are made up of as many different nationalities as possible and that the age range is similar.
There are 20 lessons of 45 minutes every week. Lessons are in the morning except the first Thursday when there is also a lesson in the afternoon. Lessons are also on the first and third Saturday and the second, fourth and fifth Sunday.

All teachers are qualified and hold a current certificate in teaching EFL, either Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL (or equivalent). They are also checked for criminal records with the CRB or an equivalent authority.

Students can also opt for the Trinity GESE examinations (by prior arrangement, subject to minimum numbers).
