The main entrance hall contains the Reception desk, which offers the following services:
There is a safe in the office with 24hr security and students are encouraged to keep their valuables there. If you would like to do so, please ask at Reception. Access to the safe is only during office hours (08.00 - 16.30 Monday - Friday and 08.00 - 12.00 Saturday and Sunday).
Please feel free to inform your friends and family that they can send e-mails and faxes to the school. We will make sure you receive all your
correspondence. The e-mail address is southafrica@lalschools.com and the LAL fax number is + 27 21 439 1222.
If you would like to post letters or postcards, you may purchase stamps and send mail at Reception. Reception will send faxes with a charge of R20 for each sheet.
Telephone cards, international calling cards, and mobile phone airtime (Cell C, Vodacom, MTN) are available at Reception. Some international mobiles will work in South Africa with a local SIM card.
Why not buy a souvenir to take home, or send a postcard to a friend? You can buy a range of LAL gifts, as well as postcards, pens and other stationery, from Reception.
Any items of personal belongings that are found at the school should be taken to Reception, and you should ask Reception if you have lost anything in the school. Please note that LAL and its staff cannot be held liable for any lost or missing valuable items.

There is a restaurant where breakfast is served from 07.15-08.30. It is open for lunch and meals throughout the day & evening. Hot meals or salads, cool drinks and much more can be bought at a reasonable price.
Tea and coffee are available in the garden, free of charge. Please help yourself.
Reading is an essential part of the language learning process and we have a selection of novels adapted to each level (Beginner to Advanced). If you are interested in borrowing these books, please ask at Reception.

E-mail browsing is available for free, 24hrs a day, except when it is occupied for teaching purposes. Please limit your time to 30mins to enable all our students to make use of the computers. Please do not use the Internet facilities to download movies, MP3s, etc.
The wireless internet network called ‘Capecc’ can be used free of charge throughout the school by students with portable computers. Please see the printed Guide or ask Reception for the password.

The swimming pool at the school is available for all our students to use. For safety reasons students are not allowed to use the pool after 22.00 and are advised not to throw each other into the pool.
You can play table football in the bar at any time, free of charge. No spinning or scoring from the middle!

The school bar is open to students over the age of 18, from 18.00 until 02.00.
Our bar is fully licensed under the South African Liquor Licensing Act. We can only allow alcohol that has been bought at the school to be drunk here. It is illegal to bring and consume your own alcohol on licensed premises.
Please inform the bartender if there is any kind of alcohol you would like to buy but which is not available at the bar. The bartender will make every effort to stock it in the future.
