Laws of the country

  • Students under 21 are forbidden to drink alcohol or enter bars or night clubs where alcohol is served.

  • Students under 18 are forbidden to purchase or consume cigarettes.

  • Students are forbidden to carry any type of weapon (e.g. a knife).

  • Theft, Shoplifting and use of illegal drugs are regarded as serious offences.

Students may be arrested for violating any of the above and there is a strong possibility that the police will demand that these students be sent home.

School Rules

  • We expect students to be on their best behaviour at all times. Students must respect other students, staff members, teachers, hotel staff, host families, etc.

  • Students must always carry their student ID. If lost, a replacement will be provided.

  • Students must always inform their host family or resident staff member where they are going and what time they will return.

Advice to be given to students:

  • Do not walk alone in the evenings, only walk in pairs or groups.

  • If you have any problem with the school, a teacher, host family, residence staff or excursion, please talk with a Group Leader or to the Young Learner Program Manager immediately.

  • If something happens to you (e.g. theft, illness, accident etc.), inform your host family or group leader and the school immediately.

  • Passports, airline tickets, travellers cheques and large amounts of money should always be kept in a safe location e.g. locked in a suitcase, looked after by the student‘s host family or foreign group escort, or placed in the school’s safe.

  • If a student causes any damage to the school, the Residence or at the host family, they must pay for the costs of repair immediately.
