Duration: 10 days.

Structure: Total of 60 hours divided in 6 daily hours. Maximum 25 students.

Teacher: Craig Peritz.

Description: The workshop aims to provide a direct experience of the actor’s work within Shakespeare’s theatre, focussing particularly on the material offered to us in Hamlet. It is an exploration of the analytical instruments and character construction elements this texts provides us with. Prof. Peritz’s workshop will be proceeded each morning with a physical warm-up of one and a half hours conducted by Prof. Luca Ventura.

Output: Certificate of attendance, ECTS.

Starting date: From Monday 20th July to Friday 31st July.

Objectives: The work allows the actors maximum access to their imagination and creativity, whilst providing a solid basis of analysis aimed at sustaining the dramatic action on stage.

Programme: In its essence, the course approaches Shakespeare not from a psychological perspective, but through the textual structure inherent in the very text of Hamlet, beginning from the study of dramatic writing and going on to discover the rules upon which the text is founded, thus developing the ability to handle the structure of the dramatic action. This enables the actor to build his/her own characters based on the his/her own relationship with the concepts enclosed within the text and accessing the individual’s own creative processes.

Methodology: workshop.
