Distance to school

Some host families live within walking distance to the school, while others are up to a 30-minute bus journey away.

Local Transport

MyCiti bus stops are located in walking distance of all host families. These buses can be used to travel easily to the city centre, Camps Bay and the rest of central Cape Town. A bus card should be purchased in advance and loaded with credit as the MyCiti bus does not accept cash.

Check-in after 14.00. Check-out before 10.00. Other times by arrangement.

Meals
Breakfast is always included. Evening meals may be booked in advance at an additional cost.

Kitchen/cooking facilities
Kitchens are not normally available for students to cook their own food.

Rooms
There are single and twin rooms available. Each room has an adequate wardrobe and drawer space for each student’s possessions and a study desk. Shared rooms are only available for students booking together.

Bathrooms
Most rooms are with shared bathroom, always including a shower, basin and WC. En-suite bathrooms are available on request for single rooms at a supplement fee.

Utilities
Electricity, heating and lighting are included in the price. Electricity is 240V, 50Hz AC.

Internet and phone
Internet access and telephones are not normally available.

Laundry
Assistance with laundry can be offered at an extra charge, but reasonably priced local launderettes are also available nearby.

Security and keys
Students are issued with a key to their room and host home on arrival.

Bed linen, towels and cleaning
Clean bed linen and towels provided once a week. Bedrooms are cleaned once a week and students are responsible for keeping their room tidy.

Water
Cape Town is currently experiencing a drought with permanent water restrictions in place. Please conserve water where possible.

Deposit & Damage Charges
No deposit required. Damage should be paid for at cost.

Visitors
Visitors must be agreed in advance with the host.

Noise and restrictions
Noise must not be heard outside the bedrooms and students should respect the host’s right to a quiet home.

Availability
Available all year to students aged 16 and older.
