English for local private hire drivers

Trinity ISE (B1) Selt Exam

LAL is preparing private hire drivers to take the Trinity ISE I (B1) SELT exam.

The programme consists of an initial test to identify strengths and weaknesses across the four skills required for the TfL SELT exam: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Where the results show drivers already meet the B1 grade required by TfL, they will be entered for the soonest possible exam in order for them to complete their licence application or renewal process.

All lesson material is carefully selected to ensure the exam is on target and efficient. LAL uses Trinity exam materials to help prepare trainees/students in the most effective manner, covering the four required skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Because we use Trinity exam materials in our training sessions, trainees/students are constantly exposed to the framework of the exam, which means they understand what is expected of them and lowers the stress level on exam day. This helps them to perform at their best and maximise their chances of success.

The Trinity ISE I (B1) exam will still be a benefit to students who are not private hire drivers. The Trinity ISE I (B1) exam is a well-established exam and has been taken by many types of student.
