No one has more experience running young learner courses in Cape Town than LAL.  This is an amazing city, a brilliant place to learn English and understand other cultures, in a safe and secure environment.

Our African Adventure School for young learners has an extensive leisure programme allowing students to explore all that Cape Town has to offer, from beautiful beaches, vast mountain ranges and astonishing wildlife, to cool waterfront shopping malls and markets.

Our school in Cape Town is brilliantly located in beautiful Sea Point, a calm and relaxed resort full of cafes and cool shops, situated away from the noise of the city centre but close to the beaches and all the fun. The school, enclosed in its own grounds with 24 hour security supervision, has spacious classrooms, a canteen, a large garden and barbecue area.

Learn English at LAL African Adventure School

The school is located in Sea Point, a trendy suburb along the Atlantic coast. The suburb contains a wide array of different cultures and personalities.

Course & Methodology

  • LAL’s own bespoke course book, “Round the World” given to every student (included in price)
  • Curriculum and class levels based on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Course designed by LAL academic staff with a focus on communication and current topics
  • Certificate of attendance and teacher’s report given to every student

Free Time

Free time can only be taken when there is no scheduled excursion. Students are only allowed to leave the campus under the following conditions:

– During the afternoon (locally – not Central London)
– Aged 16 or over
– Consent is given by parents via LAL’s online Welfare and Consent form only (no e-mails or PDFs accepted)
– Students must be in groups of 3 or more

Getting to the school

Transfers

Arrivals and departures are on Sundays only.

Price includes accompanied transfer to and from Cape Town International Airport with the arrival and departure times listed in the Price List or group quote. Transfers outside of these times and dates are subject to an additional cost.

Transfers may involve a waiting time of up to one hour after students have cleared immigration.

  • One full-day per week
  • Five half-days per week
  • Three evening activities (Vacation English Plus only)
  • Supervised and led by LAL activity staff
  • Excursions and activities are compulsory

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

Half-day excursion to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the only botanical garden in the world which is inside a natural World Heritage Site. Kirstenbosch conserves and displays the extraordinarily rich and diverse flora of southern Africa. The duration of this trip is 4 hours. Total travel time of 1 hour.

One-day Safari

Drive out to the reserve for welcome drinks and a light breakfast before embarking on a 3-hour game drive to see the Big 5, the closest reserve to Cape Town, with free-roaming animals.

At the Beach 2

Ostrich Ranch and Blouberg Beach

Join our educational trip on the origins of ostrich farming and breeding. The ostrich ranch is followed by a stop at Blouberg Beach, where one can relax in the sun and take postcard photos of the most famous view of Table Mountain.

Robben island

Robben Island

A relic of South Africa’s tainted past; Robben Island was the prison in which the apartheid government’s most feared political prisoners were incarcerated. Nelson Mandela was its most famous victim, spending 18 years on this island of isolation.
